Ottawa Pianos has a room housing our Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano. We offer Felix, the Concert Grand Piano in this room to all students in our community for recording university auditions, remote festival submissions and Royal Conservatory of Music exam submissions.

As of Sept 2023, while remaining an integral part of our Yamaha Music School, the performance room, will now also be used as additional showroom space.  There will be limited booking availability with priority given to our local teaching community for recitals on Saturdays.

This space is offered free of charge. We do encourage a donation to the CHEO audiology department. We suggest a minimum donation of $25 for each session. A donation box is in the room. Felix has raised over $24,000.00 thanks to people like you!

We have a few rules to ensure everything goes well

• Events are held during normal operating hours of the Ottawa Pianos retail space.
• No food or drink is allowed in the Performance Room.
• Absolutely no introducing foreign objects into the workings of the piano to change the sound quality.
• No hitting or plucking the strings directly or any other direct manipulation of the strings
• No use of other materials to strike keys, i.e. battery-operated motors with plastic gears to create continuous string vibrations.
• No palm muting, i.e. placing one hand on the string(s) to mute them while playing the keys with the other hand.
• Students are not permitted to warm up on or play the pianos outside of the room.
• All activities must begin and end at the agreed-upon time.
• Nothing should be placed on top of our piano, except for sheet music and music books.
